It’s almost March Break – and while kids are counting down the days, parents can be a little stressed as they try to figure out how to keep the family busy!

Whether you’re looking for road trip inspiration, a little ‘staycation’ fun, or a camp to fill the kids’ days, here are some ways to make the most of March Break in Waterloo Region.

March Break Fun in Waterloo Region

  • THEMUSEUM March Break Camps– This March Break, THEMUSEUM March Break Camp is running Whimsical Wizardry, where campers aged 5 – 10 are invited to step into the world of enchanted wonders! Meanwhile The Underground Studio MakerSpace camp theme is The Great Escape, where campers aged 10 – 14 will develop their own escape boxes with new skills they learn every day! 
  • Waterloo Central Railway – experience their March Break Train Rides and be captivated by the wide-open view of the countryside and nearby Mennonite farms as the train heads northbound to Elmira.
  • Bingemans March Break Camp – Junior Campers ages 4-5 and Campers ages 6-12 can take part in arts and crafts, games, outdoor time, as well as bowling, Ropes Course and playtime at FunworX play structure!
  • Castle Kilbride – is offering a special 45-minute family tour called Fabled Family Tours where families can get a sneak peek at the new exhibit “Fabled”, co-curated by the Stratford Festival Archives.
  • Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy Boot Camps – Join the Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy for five days of singing, acting and movement with its two new training programs – Disney on Broadway (ages 8-12) and Broadway Blockbusters (ages 13-18).
  • Waterloo Region Museums – At the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum kids will BEE amazed by what they will learn about BEES at their engaging bee-themed March Break Camp.
    Over at Schneider Haus their March Break menu includes Kitchen Science. And over at McDougall Cottage, you’re invited for tea – including a special Maple Tea by the Grand.
  • Chicopee Tube Park – is open (weather permitting) so you can get in your last tube runs of the season (Insider Tip: get your tickets in advance as days can sell out fast!)
  • Cambridge Butterfly ConservatoryExperience the wonder of Magical Morphos while walking amongst thousands of Blue Morpho Butterflies. Hours are extended during March Break.
  • Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery – offers a March Break Art Camp where campers can get inspired by exhibitions at the gallery and then create their own masterpieces. Campers will explore the creative process by experimenting with clay, printmaking, drawing, and more! The week ends with a pop-up Art Show in the gallery to celebrate and share what art campers create.
  • Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery – has its Break for Art camp where kids can dabble with paint, draw, build a sculpture or experiment with materials they might be trying for the first time. 
  • Colour Paradise Greenhouses – has a fun lineup for kids that includes a Scavenger Hunt, a visit from Hand On Exotics, a Board Game Café, and a collaborative parent-child workshop.
  • Kitchener Market – Their hands-on Kids In the Kitchen camp brings everything your kids love about the Kids in the Kitchen program to a week-long camp! 
  • Homer Watson House – invites kids to be part of its Spring Camp where they’ll learn to paint and draw using a various materials while learning concepts surrounding form, space, and volume.
  • rare Charitable Research Reserve – invites adventurers to be part of their March Break Eco Camp. Explore unique habitats across a natural landscape, learn from special guests, visit North House, Springbank Gardens, partake in environmental art and nature-based crafts and activities, and create a journal of your time at rare.
  • Kids Celtic Camp – as part of the Irish Real Life Festival, this week long day camp will allow kids to explore and celebrate the rich history and culture of Ireland through dance, crafts, and stories. 
  • Drayton Entertainment – invites you to Catch the Impossible with Charles Peachock, the juggling sensation who appeared a record six times on America’s Got Talent. This hilarious, high-energy juggling act comes to three Drayton Entertainment venues during March Break.
  • KW Titans March Break Experience–This full day experience takes place at the Kitchener Aud and is open to youth in Grades 4-9. Kids will Spend the day in the KW Titans shoes! The day includes skills training on the game day floor, locker room tour, film session and player interaction.
  • Kitchener Rangers – catch an exciting Junior A hockey game with the Kitchener Rangers at The Aud
  • Ctrl V – to experience some ‘virtual’ fun as you play together with family and/or friends. Try one of their new Virtual Escape Rooms – fun for 1-6 players
  • Button Factory Arts – offers its March Break Camp ‘Where Did Winter Go??’ Kids will explore Mixed-Media creation through Winter and Spring themes.
  • City of Kitchener – join in the fun by registering your children for all of the fun and interactive March Break programming
