There’s a lot to love about the long weekend in February: Galentine’s Day, Valentine’s Day and Family Day all come together, creating one super-holiday weekend!
Whether you’re looking to do something with your friends, partner or family, here are 5 unique ways to celebrate – whatever you’re celebrating!
1. Get Cozy at Langdon Hall’s Winter House
The beautiful Winter House at Cambridge’s Langdon Hall is back! This outdoor, heated restaurant offers share-style plates, warm cocktails and more for you to enjoy as you cozy up around the heaters and outdoor fireplace.
Winter House is open throughout the long weekend in February. Reservations are recommended.

2. Take a Ride on the Rails
Waterloo Central Railway offers 2 heritage train ride options for the long weekend.
Their Family Day Special provides a scenic ride through Waterloo Region’s countryside the entire family will love!
For a romantic culinary experience, the Valentrain offers a journey where love is in the air and a delectable feast awaits you in a charming heritage dining car!
Advance tickets are recommended for both rides.
3. Here’s to friendship with these Galentine’s Day events!
Galentine’s Day may have been invented by a fictional character (thank-you Parks and Rec!) but this holiday has become a real day to appreciate and spend time with your BFF’s! Here are some ways to celebrate:
Galentine’s Day at Schneider Haus: make your own pretzel, create a bath bomb, and enjoy an exclusive mocktail with your favourite gals and pals!
Galentine’s Drag Night at THEMUSEUM: a Drag Night like no other – this fun night out will be headlined by Perla from Canada’s Drag Race Season 5!
Paint and Prosecco – Galentine’s Edition: this fun night at the Lokal Lounge at the Walper Hotel includes all the painting supplies needed, a glass of prosecco, and light snacks by The Walper Culinary Team. Space is limited!
4. Celebrate Among the Butterflies
There’s something for families and partners all long weekend at the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory!
Kids will love Critter Corner, where they can get up-close with live beetles, caterpillars, stick insects and many more ‘critters’!
For a romantic evening among thousands of free-flying butterflies, the After Dark Sweetheart Stroll includes live music, photos and a glass of sparkling non-alcoholic champanade.
5. Enjoy Fire and Ice in St. Jacobs
The Village of St. Jacobs invites you to enjoy a cozy and memorable weekend filled with delicious dining, unique shopping, and charming small-town vibes.
Look for outdoor fire pits, warm cocoa and apple cider, Hot Sauce and Hot Dogs, and lots of free events – including free skating at the St. Jacobs Arena Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 2:30-3:30PM!
