In this reflective workshop, participants will engage in activities and conversations, while exploring their own identity, power and privilege and how they might use what they learn in order to be an effective ally and navigate conflict with empathy and understanding. Participants will reflect on racism, oppression, and biases and the harm that is created in communities when these exist. Participants will then brainstorm and create an action plan for practical steps that can be taken towards being anti-racist, anti-oppressive, inclusive, equitable, and celebratory of all identities. Laurel earned her Master of Peace and Conflict Studies from University of Waterloo, and a Certificate in Conflict Management and Mediation from Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo, including extensive mediation and Circle training.
