DESCRIPTION:The City of Waterloo Museum\, in partnership with the Uptown Waterloo BIA\, invites the public to experience Barrels & Bites: An Uptown Waterloo Whisky Walk\, a specially designed evening that blends whisky tastings\, culinary pairings\, live music\, and local history in the heart of Uptown Waterloo. This curated walking experience will guide participants on foot through a selection of Uptown restaurants—including Sole\, Bodega Rose\, Huether Hotel\, and LaLa Social House—where guests will enjoy thoughtfully paired whisky tastings and bites crafted by local chefs and mixologists. Participants will stroll between venues\, taking in the sights and energy of Uptown Waterloo while sampling premium whiskies and culinary creations. Leading guests through the complex and nuanced world of whisky is whisky sommelier Gary Bernier\, who will share insights into flavour profiles\, production techniques\, and the stories behind the spirits. Must be 19 + to participate. The event will take place on the evening of April 14\, 2026\, with two tour times available: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Our good friend\, Haudenosaunee artisan\, Susan Hill\, joins us at McDougall Cottage to lead another of her very popular beading workshops. Over the course of the afternoon\, participants will learn how to set a loom and everyone will come away with lovely pair of handmade ombre beaded earrings in the colour of their choice! (This is a great opportunity to make a special gift for Mother’s Day!) Susan’s Bio:Susan is a Haudenosaunee artisan and member of the Cayuga Nation living in Ohsweken on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. She is self-taught in making moccasins and was mentored by her mother Millie throughout her years of beading. Susan is the sole proprietor of Hill’s Creations with over 25 years of experience. Cost: $ 60 per person\, plus HST (includes all materials and instruction). Looms will be provided\, but if you would prefer to bring your own loom\, please feel free to do so. A limited number of looms will be available for purchase at the Cottage.

SUMMARY:Claytime - Beginner Clay Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Get creative with clay! During this freestyle clay workshop you can make and paint a small project of your choice. Each ticket includes 1 clay item to go through the kiln.Our instructor will demonstrate basic handbuilding techniques and show you how to combine simple forms with sculptural elements to create fun and functional pieces for your home! Items are food safe\, dishwasher safe\, and microwave safe. Popular project ideas include a plate\, mug\, plant pot\, or ring holder – all with the option to add your own decorative touch. Make a mug with your morning mantra\, a tealight that looks like a turtle\, or a plate that’s designed to fit your favourite snack. During the workshop\, please photograph your artwork and carve your name on the bottom so you can identify it when it comes out of the kiln. Artwork Pickup + Firing:Items will be kiln fired after the workshop by our team of studio technicians. You will be emailed in 6-8 weeks after the workshop when items are ready for pick up. Your clay artwork will be air dried for 1 week and then fired in the kiln twice. Each firing takes up to 48 hours.
