DESCRIPTION:In this hands-on\, 2-hour workshop\, you’ll experiment with Gelli-plate printing to make colourful\, textured collage papers. You will then use your handmade papers to build a layered mixed‑media artwork perfect for upcoming Mother’s Day (or for any occasion)! If you have old pieces of music or writing that is meaningful to you\, be sure to bring it with you to personalize your artwork. Details to Note: This workshop takes place at Neruda Arts in St. Jacobs. You will be sent an email 1 week prior to your workshop to share directions and parking instructions. Neruda Arts is wheelchair accessible (via elevator). This workshop is for people 12 years +. There are a maximum of 15 spaces in this workshop. SUMMARY:Claytime - Beginner Clay Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Get creative with clay! During this freestyle clay workshop you can make and paint a small project of your choice. Each ticket includes 1 clay item to go through the kiln.Our instructor will demonstrate basic handbuilding techniques and show you how to combine simple forms with sculptural elements to create fun and functional pieces for your home! Items are food safe\, dishwasher safe\, and microwave safe. Popular project ideas include a plate\, mug\, plant pot\, or ring holder – all with the option to add your own decorative touch. Make a mug with your morning mantra\, a tealight that looks like a turtle\, or a plate that’s designed to fit your favourite snack. During the workshop\, please photograph your artwork and carve your name on the bottom so you can identify it when it comes out of the kiln. Artwork Pickup + Firing:Items will be kiln fired after the workshop by our team of studio technicians. You will be emailed in 6-8 weeks after the workshop when items are ready for pick up. Your clay artwork will be air dried for 1 week and then fired in the kiln twice. Each firing takes up to 48 hours. DESCRIPTION:This 2 hour workshop with Della vanDokkumburg will help you get started with exercises and tips on how to draw the world around you\, or the world in your mind. You’ll receive a 4″x 5.5″ sketchbook\, waterproof pen\, and coloured pencils that you can easily take with you wherever you go.  Solidify travel memories\, capture daily moments\, doodle your way through meetings\, and you’ll soon have a one-of-a-kind book filled with random sketches of your life.  We’ll begin the workshop at Neruda Arts\, with the option of continuing at Block 3 Brewing for a friendly Drink and Draw session\, where you can practise your new drawing skills.   This workshop is one of eight in the Making it Tiny Workshops Series by the new Tiny Ass Art Gallery in St. Jacobs – participants are guided in different media\, resulting in lovely small works to take home. Tiny Ass Art Gallery is a collective of 15 local women artists where art focusses on the idea of tiny.
