SUMMARY:Afternoon Garden Concert featuring the Cambridge Scottish Session Fiddlers
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join us in McDougall’s cozy cottage garden for a fantastic afternoon of lively traditional music and song featuring the Cambridge Scottish Session Fiddlers. After Brad McEwen\, former Artistic Director of the Mill Race Festival of Traditional Folk Music\, suggested that there should be a music session in Cambridge that focused specifically on Scottish music\, this group of amateur musicians from the Kitchener and Cambridge area stepped up and came together. Following their first practice in August 2019\, they met monthly until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. They restarted the group in May of 2022 and are hoping that their dynamic fiddle sessions will become a new tradition in the community. The group plays Scottish music from Scotland and other places with a strong Scottish heritage (like Cape Breton) with additional tunes from other Celtic parts of the world. “We try to stick to the traditional methods of grouping tunes together – jig sets\, reel sets and March-strathspey sets – much as you might have heard them 200 years ago at a dance in Scotland\, or in Cape Breton and we’re always looking for new members”. Light refreshments will be served.

SUMMARY:Ben Rollo & Sydney Jones @ Block Three Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Ben Rollo and Sydney Jones are independent Kitchener based musicians who have been collaborating since early 2024. They frequently perform at local spots around Waterloo Region including many City of Kitchener events. Sydney has been featured in Ben’s Homegrown Series at The Registry Theatre several times. In March 2026\, Ben and Sydney opened for Canadian legends Crash Test Dummies at Maxwell’s Waterloo. Check out Ben and Sydney’s song “Waiting For You to Call.” Ben Rollo is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist\, drummer and singer-songwriter. Ben blends alt-country with soul and is known for his signature groove\, emotionally engaging performances and sophisticated songwriting. Ben recently released 4 original songs\, “Long Wave”\, “Where Were You\,” “Lucky Ones”\, and “Cheap Talk.” His previous works have been played on CBC radio and over twenty major radio stations across Canada. He’s co-written songs with Juno nominated artists Peter Katz and Giselle Sanderson. Ben has also performed drums with Steven Page\, Danny Michel\, Lucky Peterson\, Steve Strongman\, Rob Szabo\, Matt Schofield\, Kevin Breit\, Jordan John\, Matt Weidinger\, Lance Anderson\, Dione Taylor and more. Sydney Jones is an Elmira\, Ontario native now based in Kitchener. She captures her unmistakable style in her debut EP “Not My People\,” recorded by JUNO award-winning producer Rob Szabo. In 2024\, Sydney opened for Canadian artists Ariel Posen\, and Glenn Milchem (Blue Rodeo)\, and shared lineups with Bahamas\, Tim Baker\, Danny Michel\, Christine Bougie\, and Steve Strongman to name a few. Prior to 2024\, Sydney led indie-folk band Jones + The Jackpines\, whose 2021 EP “Spectrum” features 5 of Sydney’s original songs.
