City of Kitchener
Harmony, friendship and unity – it’s the Latin definition of the word “concordia,” and the perfect translation for what you’ll find at Kitchener’s Concordia Club!
For over a century The Concordia Club has been home to authentic German cuisine, culture and festivities. Guests enjoy a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where the spirit of Gemuetlichkeit (good cheer) is always in full swing!
The Concordia Club is the largest ethnic German Club in Canada. There are 19 different social activity groups at the club, with everything from ballroom dancing to table tennis. Hospitality plays a major role in the club’s activities throughout the year, with Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest being the highlight. Each year approximately 40,000 people take part in the Oktoberfest celebrations at Concordia’s four festhallen over the eight day festival. Families, friends and groups all enjoy authentic German food and drink, while being entertained by traditional folk dancers and brass band music.
The Concordia Club is also known for its cozy and welcoming ambience. Featuring four different rooms that provide a comfortable backdrop for weddings and other events, Concordia Club can accommodate groups of 50 to 450. Offering a variety of meal choices, room sizes and options to meet any budget, their professional staff can help plan an evening of fun anytime of the year.
Also located on site is the Schenke restaurant. Its traditional German menu features favourites that include several kinds of schnitzel, sausages, Sauerbraten, and homemade Apple Strudel. The restaurant is open six days a week for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
Concordia Club members had a hand in many of the finishing touches of its building. The woodwork in the “Schenke” and “Weinstube” rooms, the natural stone in the “Jagerstube”, and the large wall murals in the building were all crafted by Concordia club members.
