Music and Lights in the Village is an annual event in Hespeler Village in late November. Considered the kickoff to the popular Christmas in Cambridge Festival of events, Music and Lights features choirs, plays, and a Christmas tree lighting at Hespeler Town Hall. Music and Lights begins in the evening, and admission is free.

The first event at Music and Lights is a play held at Hespeler Idea Exchange. Plays in the past have included Carol’s Christmas Carol & Santa’s Christmas Conundrum, a family comedy play put on by the Acting Out Drama Club; How Santa Got His Christmas Tree, put on by the Cambridge Community Players and children from local schools. Play admission is free, but space can be limited.

Following the first performance of the play, many festival-goers move to the beautiful setting at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, where seasonal music is performed by local school and church choirs.

After the performances are finished, festival-goers join together in the cenotaph area for a sing along. Hot chocolate & gift bag giveaways are provided, along with a special appearance by Willy Melt (the official Christmas in Cambridge mascot). The evening ends with the lighting of the Christmas tree with more than 1000 lights – a wonderful way to start the Christmas season!

Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy the holiday storefront window displays and restaurants in Hespeler Village.
