Green Lights Arts is a not-for-profit theatre company in Waterloo Region dedicated to bringing people together to celebrate theatre arts, and to providing creative programming that inspires, nurtures and challenges audiences. Green Light Arts programs theatre in both traditional and non-traditional spaces that are unexpected and provoke audiences to question the status quo and think critically. They believe theatre is the beginning of a conversation that can lead audiences towards positive social change.
Green Light Arts is committed to reflecting diversity and inclusion in the plays they program. The name is symbolic with ‘Green Light’ suggesting forward momentum; the theatre they offer catalyzes social progress and helps build community. They FUEL what they do with ancillary activities that support the messages and themes of each production. From podcasts to panel discussions, special events to special on-line initiatives, Green Light Arts provides unique outreach and engagement opportunities for audiences to deepen their theatrical experience by offering them multiple perspectives, asking questions, and holding space for audiences to share their own stories.
New for the 2019-2020 Season, Green Light Arts is making The Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Kitchener their new office and artistic home. As part of a pilot program with the K-W Symphony, programming will take place at the Conrad Centre and Green Light Arts will take over managing outside theatre rentals for the K-W Symphony.
Green Light Arts is committed to increasing the creative industry in Waterloo Region. They are affiliate members of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT). The organization was co-founded in 2014 by current Artistic Producer, Matt White, and current Managing Director, Carin Lowerison, who each bring over 15 years of professional theatre experience to the region.
