Artist Concept Statement:
Megan’s vision for this project was to paint one of Waterloo Region’s most distinguishable landscapes. As a part of Waterloo’s heritage, the Grist Mill’s charm is not only recognizable to locals, but is a site to see for those visiting.
Reason for Participating in Art Fresco Public Art Project:
Megan has been trying to push herself to get her artwork out into the public, and has a preference for landscapes when it comes to painting. She believes the Art Fresco Project is a unique opportunity to not only paint a landscape, but also have its own place and presence within the landscape that it is relevant to.
Artist Background:
With a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in both Visual Arts as well as Communication, Media & Film, Megan’s work encompasses a variety of media. Based out of Windsor, Lapoint has been honing her skills mainly in illustration (both traditional and digital). Influenced by her upbringing around old music, vinyl, and muscle cars, her often nostalgic works incorporate 70’s style colour palettes and patterns, and everything retro.
