February may be the shortest month of the year, but 2024 is a Leap Year, and you have an extra day of awesome events in Waterloo Region. This month, explore Europe without leaving Downtown Kitchener, catch exciting basketball and hockey action, and dance the night away with your fellow Swifties.

Here’s our list of amazing events to check out this February across Waterloo Region!

KW Titans basketball | February 1, 4, 15, and 29

Fresh off a three-game road trip to Newfoundland, the KW Titans return to Kitchener for four home games in February. They take on the Windsor Express on Thursday, February 1, the Newfoundland Rouges on February 4, the Montreal Tundra on February 15, and the Sudbury Five on February 29!

Kitchener Rangers vs Guelph Storm | February 2 and 13

The Kitchener Rangers continue their quest for the playoffs as they welcome the Guelph Storm to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on February 2 and 13. On February 2, the Rangers will be wearing a special jersey designed by one young fan! The jerseys will then be auctioned off to support the PC Children’s Charity, presented by Real Canadian SuperStore. On February 13, bring your special someone to the Ranger’s Valentine’s Day Game.

Black History Month Launch 2024 | February 4

Join the Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region as they kick off a month of celebrations, events, and education for Black History Month 2024 at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum. The launch features feature performers, children’s activities, food, local Black-owned vendors, spoken word artiste Graham Edwards, and more!

Feeling Buble Valentine’s Special | February 7

Jay Davis brings you the music of Michael Buble to the Registry Theatre in this powerful show that will have you laughing, crying, singing, and dancing. The show takes you back to February 14, 2020, a few weeks before the world shut down. With universal themes of hope, love, and togetherness, this show has an uplifting and powerful message delivered with sincerity and humour.
Pro tip: Looking to make it a dinner and a show night? Make a reservation at TWH Social (1 King St. W.) for an amazing meal and exceptional atmosphere!

The Sam Roberts Band | February 8

Canadian rocker Sam Robers brings his eponymous band to the Centre in the Square for The Adventures Of Ben Blank Tour, with very special guest  JayWood. The Sam Roberts Band always puts on an electrifying show, blending soulful melodies with rock.
Pro tip: Add passes for the CentreStage Lounge when you get your tickets. The beautiful lounge is located underneath the stage and gives you access to a pre-show bar with food from Little Mushroom Catering available for order.

In the Mood for Love…Songs | February 9

The Cambridge Symphony Orchestra hopes you’re in the mood for love…songs. They’ll be hosting an evening for romance for music lovers at Tapestry Hall in Cambridge. The symphony will be joined by soprano Sara Papini and tenor Joey Niceforo.

LAUNCH Fem in STEM Day | February 10

LAUNCH Waterloo is celebrating International Women and Girls in Science Day with speakers and activities at Catalyst137 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Explore coding, zoom in on crystals using microscopes, and learn the chemistry behind cosmetics.
Pro tip: Pizza is science too! Grab a Detroit-style pizza at Graffiti Market with your little ones. It’s located right inside Catalyst137, next to the event space.

Galentine’s Day at Schneider Haus | February 10

Round up your besties and head to Schneider Haus for an evening of celebrating friendship. You’ll learn how to make the perfect pretzel, your own bath bombs, and enjoy stunning mocktails.

Valentrain Dinner Experience | February 10

Nothing says romance like an intimate train ride through the countryside. After Dark Sweetheart Stroll | February 14

Heat up your Valentine’s Day with a romantic stroll through the tropical gardens of the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory. Enjoy a complimentary glass of sparkling non-alcoholic champagne while you enjoy live music by harpist Tracy Sweet.

Live on King | February 16

Get ready to sing, dance, and rock the night away in Uptown Waterloo at Live on King at Room 47. The night features live music from three awesome bands—High Street, Turning Corners, and Small Town Strip Club. It’s three electrifying performances that will have you wanting more!
Pro tip: Grab a bite and drink at Kentucky Bourbon & BBQ (103 King St. N.) before the show. We recommend the chicken and waffles!

Tusslemania | February 16

Nothing goes together like great craft beer and wrestling. Don’t believe us? Find out for yourself on February 16 at the Registry Theatre when Off The Ropes Studio and TWB Brewery present Tusslemania. TWB will be pouring its Off The Ropes beer and former ROH superstar Tyler Bateman will take on Daddy Davis in the main event!

tri-Pride presents: CLUB RED | February 17

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with your chosen family under the glittery disco ball at CLUB RED at the Willow River Park Pavilion. The tri-Pride team has booked two amazing DJs for an evening of dancing and all things fabulous in support of tri-Pride and its annual Summer Festival.

DTK Travelers Tour  | February 19 – 25

Exploring international destinations is great—except for the whole packing bags and going to the airport thing. Downtown Kitchener has you covered with the DTK Travellers Tour, a dining series showcasing amazing culinary creations with a travelling theme. From February 19 through February 25, explore Europe with savoury meals at 271 West, Odd Duck Wine & Provisions, La Cucina, La Lola, TWH Social, Wineology, and Bobby O’Brien’s.

The Ultimate Symphonic Rock Show with Jeans ‘n Classics Orchestra | February 22

Jeans ‘n Classics Orchestra brings you their take on symphonic rock classics from the Moody Blues, ELO, and more! An evening focusing on what is certainly the most daring and artistically creative rock genre – symphonic rock. It was the era of the mega tour, the classic album, and iconic bands and songs. Kitchener Rangers vs Sarnia Sting | February 23

SWAY’s 3rd Annual Ramadan Market | February 24

Experience the spirit of Ramadan at SWAY’s 3rd Annual Ramadan Market at Bingemans on February 24. It’s a day-long celebration with more than 80 vendors, culture performances, a delicious food court, and more.

0.25K for Cancer! | February 25

Ever want to run a race, but 5K seems a little more than you’d like to run? Grab your shoes because the Grand River Hospital Foundation has the race for you—the inaugural GRHF 0.25K for Cancer! race inside Catalyst137 in Kitchener. Participants will receive a technical running shirt, pizza lunch, and an edible finisher medal.

La Dolce Vita | February 29

Join the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation for a taste of La Dolce Vita as they transport you to Italy for an unforgettable evening of traditional fare, music, and a live auction hosted by Layne the Auctionista. February 29 at Tapestry Hall in Cambridge. It’s the perfect way to spend this year’s Leap Day!

Family Day Road Trip

Pack the minivan or jump on the GO train for a Family Day Weekend Road Trip in Waterloo Region. There’s so much to see, taste, and do—and Family Day Weekend is the perfect time to explore what our community has to offer.

Nothing says Family Day like a dip in a pool! Book a night or two at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Waterloo in St. Jacobs to enjoy their hospitality and indoor pool. The hotel is centrally located next to the St. Jacobs Market District, where you can discover amazing breakfast treats like the fresh and hot apple fritters from The Fritter Co. inside the market.

The weather has been a little unpredictable lately, but it’s working in your favour as the City of Waterloo’s Winterloo festival is now happening on Saturday, February 17! Meet the Sled Dogs, watch snow sculptures in action, try your hand at curling, and more at this free event!

Chicopee Ski Resort and Chicopee Tube Park offer something for everyone in the family! Whether it’s your first time on the slopes or your family are seasoned pros, Chicopee Ski Resort has runs for every level. They offer day passes, gear rentals, and ski and snowboard lessons. Located right next door to the ski resort, Chicopee Tube Park is a 900-foot tube that will take your breath away! It’s great for families of all ages.

Did someone say candy? The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum has a Family Candy-Making Party on Saturday, February 17th from 10 to 12 p.m. Learn to make sweet treats like marshmallows and maple cream fudge and participate in an old-fashioned taffy candy pull.

If you’re looking for family-friendly theatre, check out KW Musical Productions’ presentation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Knox Waterloo. The show, which includes performers from the Kitchener Grand Philharmonic Children’s Choir, is a great way to spend an afternoon with your family! There are performances on Saturday, February 17, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 18, at 2 p.m.

More musical theatre can be found at the St. Jacobs County Playhouse with performances of Footloose: The Dance Musical. The production features high school students from the Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy High School Musical Production program and is sure to have you dancing in the aisles! There are performances at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 17 and 11:30 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 18.

Join the Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery on Monday, February 19, to celebrate Family Day with button-making, arts and crafts, and a self-portrait station where you can create your own portrait using rocks instead of paint.

For the little scientists in your family, LAUNCH Waterloo has a free Family Day event at the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo. It’s a free drop-in event running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, February 19th with fun, interactive, hands-on STEAM activities in one of Waterloo Region’s most advanced quantum computing research facilities.

Also on the holiday Monday, you can help your little ones find culinary inspiration at the Kitchener Market’s Family Day celebration from 10 to 3 p.m. The free event features a special edition of Kids in the Kitchen, plus there will be s’mores, a board game cafe, face painting, and other activities for everyone in your family!
