Join in the celebrations happening throughout Waterloo Region on July 1st!
Picnics, music, events and fireworks are all part of the fun, as we gather to observe the shared values of this country and its diverse communities.
It is also a day to reflect on our past and to learn, as we move forward on the road to reconciliation and a better future.
Here are some of the events planed for July 1st as you #ExploreWR!
Fireworks, Drone Shows and Dazzling Displays!
July 1st
Downtown Kitchener (Carl Zehr Square) – A special pyrotechnics display takes place at 10:30 p.m.
Waterloo (Waterloo Park West) – View a 100 piece LED drone show that will light up the sky above the Waterloo Park bandshell at 10 PM
Cambridge (Riverside Park) – Canada Day Fireworks Display begins at 10 PM
New Hamburg (Norm S. Hill Park) – 9:30 PM
Ayr (North Dumfries Community Complex) – 9:45 PM
June 29th
Bingemans (Event Square, behind Kingpin Bowlounge Boston Pizza) – The sky lights up at sundown (approx. 10 PM)
CANADA DAY EVENTS IN WATERLOO REGION
WILMOT TOWNSHIP
Wilmot Canada Day
This family friendly event will be hosted on Tuesday, July 1, and will feature attractions such as the Indigenous Sunrise Ceremony, live music, games, bouncy castles, vendors, great food and more! Fireworks will be at dusk, weather permitting.
NORTH DUMFRIES TOWNSHIP
July 1st Community Celebration
This is North Dumfries’ biggest party of the year! Celebrate community on Canada Day at Cowan Park.
Activities begin at 6:00 p.m. and continue through to the fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
There will be food trucks, live entertainment on the Main Stage, family-fun activities and more!
WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP
Canada Day Celebration
Things kick off at 10:30 a.m. with a free swim at the Woolwich Memorial Centre. Then, from 12-3 PM, enjoy all the free events happening including a magic show, antique car show, live music, fire truck tours and more!
CAMBRIDGE
Cambridge Canada Day
The Canada Day celebrations at Riverside Park in Cambridge are fun for the whole family!
Events kick off with the Fishing Derby at 8 AM; there’s a midway, live music, Hot Air Balloon rides, food trucks, vendors, a children’s area, the Farm League Brewing beer garden and more.
The Cambridge Canada Day Parade winds its way along King Street starting at 11 AM. The fun finishes with the fireworks display at dusk
WATERLOO
July 1st Community Picnic
Spend the afternoon in Waterloo Park with local artists, food trucks and giant games at the July 1 Community Picnic. The event runs 4:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. on the West side of Waterloo Park located near the Bandshell.
Make sure you also look up at 10 p.m. for an amazing 100-piece LED drone show that will light up the sky above the Waterloo Park bandshell!
KITCHENER
Canada Day in DTK
Head to downtown Kitchener on July 1 for a free concert and full day of family fun beginning at 2pm in Carl Zehr Square. Canada Day is also an opportunity to continue education, awareness and celebration of Indigenous culture.
Canada Day is always one of the biggest events of the summer, with lots of family-friendly fun, an evening concert, and a dazzling pyrotechnics display to end the night. This year, it’s bigger and better than ever with a brand new Canada Play kids’ zone, incredible local and Canadian talent and so much more!
Canada Day at Bingemans
Join Bingemans on Sunday, June 29th for a day of fun featuring live entertainment by The Almost Hip, Canada’s premier The Tragically Hip cover band, and Waterloo Region’s largest fireworks display! Admission is free (no outside food or drinks allowed).
While you’re there, dive into adventure at Big Splash waterpark, challenge your friends at either of Bingemans 18 hole Hole-in-Fun outdoor mini golf courses, and check out the newly renovated Kingpin Bowlounge Boston Pizza.
