Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or planning a day trip, here’s a fall itinerary guaranteed to keep both kids and adults smiling from morning to sunset.

Stop #1: St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market

📍878 Weber St. N., Waterloo

You can’t visit Waterloo Region without spending some time at the famous St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market. There’s so much to see here, fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts, local treats, and plenty of friendly faces. The market has that classic fall energy that instantly makes you want to slow down and wander. And of course… you absolutely cannot leave without grabbing an apple fritter. They’re practically a Waterloo Region tradition at this point. Warm, sweet, cinnamon-y, and worth every bite. This is the perfect first stop to let the kids explore, pick up some snacks for the road, and soak in the local atmosphere.

Stop #2: Elmira Wagon Rides

📍Mennonite Story Log Cabin: 878 Weber St. N., Waterloo

After the market, head over to Elmira Wagon Rides for a classic countryside experience. Tours run on market days at 10am, 11:15am, 1pm, and 2:15pm. With wagons pulled by tractors, this stop still captures the charm of rural life while offering a fun and comfortable ride for all ages. Kids absolutely love the experience, and honestly, adults do too. It’s peaceful, scenic, and gives you a chance to really take in the beauty of the region. If you’re visiting in the fall, the crisp air and changing leaves make the whole experience even more magical.

Stop #3: Benjamin Tree Farm

📍770 Benjamin Rd., Waterloo

Next up: peak fall family fun.

Benjamin Tree Farm is one of those places where families can easily spend a few hours without realizing it. Between the pumpkins, playground, corn maze, and open space to run around, there’s something for every age. Parents can browse the charming shop while the kids burn off some energy outdoors, a win-win situation. And if you’re building the ultimate fall day, this is definitely the spot to grab a pumpkin or two before heading home.

Stop #4: Eby Manor Farm

📍1174 Weeby Place, Waterloo

By this point in the day, everyone will probably be ready for a snack break, and Eby Manor Farm is the perfect place to stop. Known for some of the freshest milk around, this family farm is a hidden gem that both kids and adults love. The real star of the show? The chocolate milk. It honestly tastes like a melted chocolate bar in the best possible way. Rich, creamy, and ridiculously good. Don’t be surprised if the kids ask for seconds.

Insider Tip: Golden Guernsey milk is the star of the show at Eby Manor’s farm market. It’s  naturally high in beta-carotene, and the A2 beta-casein protein it contains makes this milk easier for many people to digest.)

Stop #5: Shuh Orchards

📍6515 Line 86, West Montrose

Wrap up the day with a visit to Shuh Orchards, where fall fun and family traditions go hand in hand. Spend some time picking crisp apples straight from the tree, then hop aboard a tractor-pulled wagon ride to take in the beautiful orchard views. Families can wander through the corn maze, visit the farm animals, and enjoy the simple pleasures that make autumn in Waterloo Region so memorable. With plenty to see and do throughout the season, there’s always something new happening at the orchard, making it a stop you’ll want to return to again and again.

Insider tip: Shuh Orchards makes an absolutely beautiful backdrop for family photos. If you’ve been meaning to update your fall family pictures, this is the place to do it. Golden leaves, apple trees, cozy sweaters: Shuh is made for autumn memories!
