OverActive Media Announces Call of Duty League® Championship powered by Bell to Canada in Partnership with Explore Waterloo Region

The Championship Weekend will welcome the world’s top Call of Duty League® teams and attract an expected 20,000 fans to Waterloo Region from June 26-29.

March 20, 2025 (TORONTO, ON) – OverActive Media Corp. in partnership with the Sport Hosting Office at Explore Waterloo Region are excited to announce that the 2025 Call of Duty League® (CDL) Championship powered by Bell is coming to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Waterloo Region June 26-29, 2025.

This historic partnership marks the first time the Call of Duty League® Championship will be hosted outside of the United States, and the first time the championships will be held in Canada. The 2025 Call of Duty League® Championship will bring together the top 8 Call of Duty League teams from around the world and will attract millions of online viewers.

“This June, all eyes in the world of esports will be on Waterloo Region,” says Allister Scorgie, Director of Sport Hosting at Explore Waterloo Region. “We are absolutely thrilled with our partnership with OverActive Media, and the opportunity to bring one of the biggest esports events in the world to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.”

The event is expected to generate $12 million in economic impact for Waterloo Region.

“We are expecting 20,000 ticketed attendees and guests to attend the championships over four days,” says Scorgie. “In addition, millions of spectators are expected to stream the event and will be introduced to Waterloo Region as they watch from around the globe.”

Together with the SHO, the Waterloo Region Esports Commission (WREC) was launched in 2021 to bring key partners in the region together to further support the development and growth of esports within the community and to position Waterloo Region as a key Esports Destination.
