“Take him, earth, for cherishing.” Those first words of the 4th century poet Prudentius from Herbert Howells’ moving tribute to John F. Kennedy are the grounds for our concert title.
The choir’s whole season takes environment as point of departure, and this first concert is inspired by the fact that we are part of the very ground on which we walk. Dust to dust. The Cherish concert program speaks to the still point of reflection in the year when remembrance and anticipation combine, when grief seeks comfort, and comfort finds itself stilled by grief.
