THE CHILD & APPROPRIATE: Two Original Staged Readings

Two original plays. Five actors. One afternoon where the audience is invited to decide what they believe.
Join playwright and director Vivian Wang for staged readings of THE CHILD and APPROPRIATE at Studio 180, University of Waterloo.
In one play, a private relationship is placed under public examination. In the other, memory, expertise and authority begin producing competing versions of the truth.
Performed with scripts in hand and minimal staging, the readings place the language, tension and unanswered questions at the centre of the experience. The plays are still evolving, giving audiences a rare opportunity to encounter new theatre before every meaning has been settled.
The performance will be followed by a short audience conversation, where guests may share reactions, questions and interpretations.
No theatre background is required. Students, artists, theatre lovers and curious members of the Waterloo Region community are all welcome.
Admission is pay what you can. Advance registration is encouraged.
