CAFKA is a non-profit, artist-run centre that presents a free exhibition of contemporary art in public spaces across Waterloo Region once every two years. CAFKA takes contemporary art out of the gallery and presents it as a critical and integral part of community life and to make it accessible to everyone. Between exhibitions, CAFKA presents public lectures, video and performance art, tours and workshops, and professional development opportunities for local artists. Following our anti-racism action plan, implemented in 2019 and audited annually, CAFKA actively recruits BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, and people with disabilities to their board, staff, and volunteer team, working to bring their voices to the forefront of the decision-making process.
