Homer Watson House & Gallery

Homer Watson House & Gallery celebrates the legacy of Canadian landscape artist, Homer Watson, and his creative spirit through the appreciation, enjoyment, and practice of visual arts.

Homer Watson was the first Canadian-born artist to be recognized internationally. In 1880, his painting “The Old Mill” was bought by the Governor General Marquis of Lorne for $300 and was gifted to Queen Victoria’s Royal Collection. Early success allowed Mr. Watson to enjoy a long career as a painter. His work can be found at the National Art Gallery of Canada, Art Gallery of Ontario and Buckingham Palace.
