The Two Row on the Grand is an embodiment of the Two Row Wampum – the 400-year-old peace treaty between indigenous and settler communities. Without such treaties, historians agree that the Americans would have successfully invaded Canada in 1812 and there would be no independent Canada.
This is an annual, ten day, canoe/kayak journey from Cambridge to Lake Erie, where participants, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, build mutual respect and understanding through sharing the river, meals, campgrounds, mutual aid, cultural/environmental teachings/demonstrations, friendship and summer fun, resulting in long-lasting friendships.
Two Row on the Grand is a grassroots, non-profit group of local Indigenous and non-Indigenous volunteers.
