Homemade, Local, and Full of Heart: Kitchen Kuttings Cafe in Elmira

Step inside Kitchen Kuttings Cafe in Elmira, and you’ll be greeted with the rich aroma of freshly baked goods, delicious sandwiches and homemade soups, rows of preserves and locally-sourced products, and the kind of small-town greeting that is sure to make you feel welcome!

Kitchen Kuttings Cafe has been serving the community since 1988, when it started as a vendor at the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market. A year later, Kitchen Kuttings bought the former Elmira Cheese House and began building what is now one of Elmira’s favourite local spots. Over time, the owners of Kitchen Kuttings expanded their space and offerings, becoming known for bulk groceries, local cheeses, and their famous homemade summer sausage.

In 2019, the business moved into its current location and added a cozy café. The menu now features fresh, homemade soups and sandwiches, deli meats and cheeses sliced to order, frozen entrees, baked treats, and a Kitchen Kuttings’ favourite – cheese balls (highly recommended by the locals!)

Today, Kitchen Kuttings Cafe continues to thrive under the leadership of four dedicated women—Nancy Shantz, Elmeda Weber, Shirley Martin, and Julie Bauman—who bring warmth, care, and community spirit to everything they do. They continue to grow the business’ legacy with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and strong ties to local farmers.

With a passionate team at the helm, this Elmira gem is ready to welcome the food lovers taking in the Fields & Flavours Trail — one cheese ball at a time!
