Garden Party Flower Farm: Where Beauty Grows with Purpose
On the same land where co-owner Theresa Schumilas was born, Garden Party Flower Farm has been growing something special for decades—first with vegetables, and now with vibrant, planet-friendly flowers.
Launched in the mid-80s as one of Canada’s earliest organic vegetable CSAs, Garden Party has always grown with intention. Theresa and her husband Peter Jantzi spent years mentoring farmers, launching teaching gardens, and helping others make the switch to organic. Then, in 2012, they traded carrots for cosmos and dove into the colourful world of sustainable cut flowers.
Today, Garden Party is home to over 200 varieties of blooms—from lush peonies and vibrant zinnias to sunflowers, foxtail lilies, and Theresa’s personal favourite: lisianthus. This delicate, rose-like flower lasts for weeks in a vase and—best of all— grows without a single thorn or use of chemicals.
This isn’t just a place to stop and smell the flowers. Garden Party is proudly pesticide-free and flowers are grown without the use fossil-fuel dependent inputs, producing what Theresa calls “CO₂L flowers”—a playful nod to their negative carbon footprint and big impact on local biodiversity.
From pick-your-own bouquets to a charming on-farm flower market, Garden Party invites you to get hands-on, ask questions, and connect with the land in a way that feels joyful, gentle, and refreshingly low-impact.
Whether you’re a flower lover, a budding designer, or simply curious about sustainable growing, Garden Party Flower Farm is a must-visit stop on the Fields & Flavours Trail—where beauty blooms from the roots up.
