The Fields & Flavours Trail
Sips, Smiles & Goat Cuddles: The Perth Farmhouse – Wine & Cider
The Fields & Flavours Trail doesn’t get more charming or memorable than a stop at The Perth Farmhouse- Wine & Cider – a small but mighty farm destination just outside the town of New Hamburg.
The Perth Farmhouse is the dream of two city escapees turned first-generation farmers— Casey and Steve Howanyk. They purchased this historic farm property that dates to the 1880s and turned it into an agri-tourism destination offering unique farm experiences. They also planted a vineyard, launching Waterloo Region’s very first winery, with vines now flourishing just steps from their tasting patio. They produce small-batch wines and ciders that are fruit-forward, fresh, and intentionally easy-drinking. These are beverages meant for patios, picnics, and relaxed get-togethers—nothing too serious, just really good drinks made with care.
Signature experiences at the Perth Farmhouse include Sip & Graze and Goat Socials, both of which bring together local flavours and down-to-earth fun. Sip & Graze pairs a wine or cider flight with a seasonal graze box—featuring ingredients from nearby Lynn River Farms—plus plenty of time with Perth Farmhouse’s beloved miniature goats. Goat Socials dial up the fun with a playful picnic setting and plenty of time to connect, unwind, and cuddle a curious goat or two.
Whether you’re raising a glass under the pergola or giggling with goats in the pasture, The Perth Farmhouse is a reminder of what makes Waterloo Region special—creativity rooted in rural tradition, and community built on good food, good drink, and good company.
Add The Perth Farmhouse to your Fields & Flavours Trail itinerary—you’ll come for the experience, and leave with the memories!
