Culinary Tourism Alliance – With our series, Kitchen Party, we’re sitting down with Feast On Chefs to get to know them and the local foods that inspire them a little better. Meet Chef Denis Hernandez of Swine and Vine restaurant in Kitchener.
One of the biggest lessons learned in the year that was 2020 is just how adaptive and innovative our restaurant community is, We checked in with several Waterloo Region restaurateurs and other food operations to see what kind of changes might represent a new normal in the future.
Despite a food and beverage industry that’s been hurt badly, there are positive steps and outcomes that can be taken away from our Covid-19 nightmare and used in the future. The restaurant industry is nothing if not adaptive and able to pivot, to use a popular new term.

Cbc.ca – The City of Kitchener is extending its patio program until the end of the year, and plans to allow restaurants and bars to serve patrons outdoors “as long as possible.”
CTV News Kitchener – With public health limitations set on dining indoors, some restaurants around Waterloo Region are finding new ways to keep patio season going past its usual end date.
Get in touch with your inner Norsk during this Waterloo Region fall. Bundle up and embrace a date-night “friluftsliv” – a word that loosely translates to “living the outdoor life.” And why not expand your date night to include a staycation getaway at a local hotel.
