CTV News Kitchener – The Kitchener Market has opened an online store to help residents support local businesses from the comfort of their homes. The online store launched Monday and offers more than 500 products, including meats, cheeses and fresh produce.
You can’t drive very far in Waterloo Region without coming across hand-painted signs for brown eggs and maple syrup. Farm gate sales and “honour stands” are a part of the countryside where you leave your money in a box and “on your honour.”
While farmers’ markets such as the ones in Cambridge and Kitchener have been operating since the mid-1800s, a renaissance of the institutions has been driven in good part by consumer demand for access to fresh local food.
