Hot enough for you?
Summer 2020 is already breaking records, and it looks like there’s a lot more sunshine to come.
We’ve all spent enough time indoors, so now it’s time to head outside and find ways to enjoy what this region has to offer – with some stops built in to help you beat the heat!
Need some inspiration? Here are 3 ways to help you keep your cool on your next outdoor adventure!
1) SPLASH PADS AND COMMUNITY SWIMMING POOLS
Select outdoor pools and splash pads are open again throughout the region. Find out what’s open and what you need to know before you go by following these links:
2) WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM
” You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream and that is pretty much the same thing.” – Unknown
Smooth, creamy, sweet, cold – there’s no better treat on a hot summer’s day than ice cream! It’s even better when you know it’s made locally.
Cup or cone? That’s for you to decide when you check out these great local ice cream shops!
Four All Ice Cream: Four All’s Uptown Scoop Shop in Waterloo is open and serving up its natural, locally sourced ice cream. (Coincidentally, it was a heatwave similar to the one we’re experiencing that led Four All founder, Ajoa Mintah, to begin making ice cream back in 2003 when she decided to buy an ice cream maker instead of an air conditioner!). Four All also features flavours that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of dietary choices or dietary restrictions.
Scoop du Jour: The Village of St. Jacobs is where you can scoop up this locally-sourced artisan ice cream. All of the ice cream served at Scoop du Jour is sourced from local suppliers, and they feature a different Scoop of the Day daily. You’ll find this food-truck-style ice cream shop right beside Block Three Brewing Company in downtown St. Jacobs.
Indulge Ice Cream: Indulge is best known for its giant scoops of gourmet ice cream served on fresh hand rolled waffle cones! You’ll find their store in the Hespeler Village area of Cambridge. And look for their Cambridge Caboose in Galt – an actual retired, historic caboose that has been turned into one of the most unique ice cream shops anywhere!
3) ENJOY A COOL ONE: LOCAL CRAFT BEERS AND ICED COFFEES
With all the patios that are open across the region, why not head to your favourite and treat yourself to a cool beverage on a hot day? Whether your beverage of choice is Craft or Caffeinated, check out the following links to find the drink you’re craving!
