The St. Jacobs Country Playhouse is located right in the heart of the very popular St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market District. The venue itself is noted for its post and beam construction, which is associated with traditional Mennonite-built architecture, like so many other buildings in Waterloo Region. The Playhouse’s auditorium has close to 400 seats arranged in a raked layout, providing each guest with a great view of the stage.
Operating year-round, this eye-catching venue is conveniently located for visitors who wish to shop for a variety of local produce, homemade baked goods, and locally made arts and crafts at the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market (open Tuesdays in the summer, and Thursdays and Saturdays year long). The Courtyard by Marriott Waterloo St. Jacobs is also conveniently located next door to the theatre, making it a great choice for accommodations while visiting the area.
The St. Jacobs Country Playhouse is a part of Drayton Entertainment, an award-winning, not-for-profit organization dedicated to producing and showcasing an unparalleled theatre experience. Created in 1991 by Alex Mustakas, the launch of the Drayton Festival Theatre was an immediate success. The organization has since grown to include multiple venues across southwestern Ontario. Here in Waterloo Region, Drayton Entertainment also performs at the St. Jacobs Country Schoolhouse Theatre and the Hamilton Family Theatre in Cambridge.
