Lockdowns and physical distancing have helped keep us safe during the pandemic — but they’ve wreaked havoc on our social lives. Now that Ontario is well into step three of its reopening plan, we’re here with some fantastic date night ideas across Waterloo Region.
CTV News Kitchener – The Kitchener Market has opened an online store to help residents support local businesses from the comfort of their homes. The online store launched Monday and offers more than 500 products, including meats, cheeses and fresh produce.
Maclean’s – On Gaukel Street in Kitchener, a black bear greets pedestrians with watery and speculative eyes. Makade Makwa. These animals are brought to life by illustrator and muralist Luke Swinson, a Kitchener resident and member of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.
The artistic heart of Downtown Kitchener remains steady and is shining brighter than ever thanks to some new additions to Downtown Kitchener’s Art Walk. This self-guided walk is a collaboration between the Downtown Kitchener BIA, and the Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery.
Cbc.ca – The City of Kitchener is extending its patio program until the end of the year, and plans to allow restaurants and bars to serve patrons outdoors “as long as possible.”
KitchenerToday.com – Stroll Walking Tours features walking tours that look at local history, public art and area architecture. Juanita Metzger is the owner of Stroll and says “there’s a bit of a pent-up demand to do interesting things in the community” when we aren’t able to travel as much.
A Journal of Musical Things – Mick, Keith and the rest of the Rolling Stones will be dancing in the streets all the way to THEMUSEUM in Kitchener next fall. THEMUSEUM will be hosting UNZIPPED, a unique immersive experience into the storied history of one of rock’s best and most enduring bands.
CTV News Kitchener – This year’s Kitchener Ribfest will look a little bit different than in years past. The 2020 KW Ribfest is going ahead this year as a drive-thru at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
