July in Waterloo Region is summer turned all the way up! If you’re looking for things to do in Waterloo Region this July, you’ll find everything from cheering on tomorrow’s stars at the Ontario Summer Games, dancing to international beats at the Kultrún, AfroVibes and Waterloo Jazz festivals, watching a movie under the stars in Waterloo Park, or grazing your way through Ribfest.

Canada Day | July 1
Celebrate Canada’s birthday with old and new friends across Waterloo Region. From rock and pyrotechnics in Downtown Kitchener to a drone show in Waterloo, there is something for the entire family. Check out our Canada Day blog post for all the details!
Salsa In The Square by The Underdog Dance Corp. | Thursdays
Dance the night away in Uptown Waterloo every Thursday at Salsa In The Square. Each week, enjoy an evening of dancing, music, and laughs in Waterloo Town Square with beginner lessons starting at 6:15 P.M., and music and dancing till 11!
Farmyard Follies | Tuesdays and Thursdays
St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market is full of free family fun on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Farmyard Follies. On Tuesdays, children can enjoy enchanting Princess Story Time followed by a meet-and-greet with the farmyard animals. Thursdays feature creative Farmyard Fun Crafts led by Artshine, where kids can make farm-inspired creations to take home.
Sunset Sessions | July 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31
The businesses of Downtown Kitchener are bringing the heat with weekly Sunset Sessions at Vogelsang Green. Each concert features a surprise artist and is free to attend! You’re encouraged to stop by a DTK restaurant for dinner and a treat before the show!
DTK Welcomes the World | Multiple Dates
Canada, the U.S., and Mexico are hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and you can catch all the games on the big screen at the Kitchener Market outdoor piazza. From June 11 to July 19, grab your friends to shout “ole, ole, ole” with over 100 matches being shown. This is Waterloo Region’s ONLY free, full-tournament big screen experience!
Bed By 10pm | July 4
For ravers who still love the drop but also love their pillow. Relive the peak of ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s club nights with confetti showers, CO2 cannons, and a resident DJ spinning all the classics. Dance hard, socialize, and still be tucked in by 10. Catering to the 30+ crowd (25+ friends welcome).
Summer Sweat | July 5
Ready to get your sweat on this summer. On July 5, Runners In Motion, AmandaJeanFit, and Oxygen Yoga & Fitness are hosting the Summer Sweat with special guest F45 Kitchener-Waterloo. It’s two sessions of fitness and community at Waterloo Town Square at 8 A.M. and 10 A.M.
Midway at The Aud | July 9–12
Win a giant stuffed bear for your sweetie and call it a night well spent. The Midway returns to The Aud for four days of free-admission fun, with thrill rides, kiddie classics, and games of skill (and luck) waiting for ride tickets. Refuel with fresh-cut fries, hand-dipped corn dogs, and fresh-squeezed lemonade, then save room for candy apples, funnel cakes, and candy floss. Lights, laughs, and a little bit of love. It’s midway magic, Kitchener-style.
Movies in the Park | July 9, 16, 23
Grab a blanket, your favourite hoodie, and head to the Hilltop Picnic Area in Waterloo Park for a summer full of outdoor movie nights under the stars. Films begin at sundown on the big outdoor screen and include Zootopia 2, Best in Show, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Brought to you in partnership with Princess Cinemas in support of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region — if you can, bring a non-perishable food item to donate.
The Great Hespeler Reunion Festival | July 10–12
Come home to Hespeler. For more than 125 years, this corner of Cambridge has been “A Gathering of Friends,” and the 2026 reunion is rolling out three days of small-town heart: parades, live music, sporting events, a washer toss tournament, dancing in the park, and more. Whether you grew up here or are just discovering the village, bring the family and reconnect over hometown pride and plenty of good company.
Kultrun World Music Festival 2026 | July 10–12
Catch live music from Colombia, South Korea, Ecuador, India, Peru, Sweden, Chile, across Canada, and right here in our own backyard at the Kultrun World Music Festival. Wander the market, hit up interactive workshops and the Kids Zone, and graze your way through international food trucks and arts-and-crafts vendors. Free to attend because great music and global flavours should be open to everyone.
Live Music Friday’s in the Gaslight District Square | July 10, 17, 24, and 31
The awesome folks at the Gaslight District are turning it up to 11 this July. Enjoy live music every Friday this summer on their outdoor District square Stone Stage from 6 to 8 P.M.
FMP & Momma’s Cookout Presents: The Block Party | July 11
FMP and Momma’s Cookout are teaming up for The Block Party at The Canadian Brewhouse. It’s a high-energy night of hip-hop, R&B, afrobeats, and party favourites, with live DJs keeping the floor moving until late. Expect great food, cold drinks, and even better company. Whether you’re rolling in with your crew or coming solo to meet new people, this is where music, culture, and community link up for one of the region’s hottest summer nights.
The Tea Party | July 11
Few bands have shaped Canadian rock like The Tea Party. The multi-platinum, multi-JUNO-nominated trio of Jeff Martin, Stuart Chatwood, and Jeff Burrows return with Sunshower at Centre in the Square, a luminous new collection showcasing the light-and-shade dynamics they’ve spent 30+ years perfecting.
Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026™ | July 11
The world’s biggest tournament is coming to Canada, and Waterloo Region’s got a front-row seat. Carl Zehr Square hosts an official FIFA fan activation as part of a first-of-its-kind countrywide celebration. It’s a free, family-friendly day of live match viewing, football-themed activities, cultural programming, music, food, and shared national pride.
Slit Barn Sessions Presents: An Evening with Terra Lightfoot | July 16
Get up close with great artists in one of Cambridge’s most atmospheric venues. To mark 25 years of rare, the Slit Barn Sessions team up with E-Bolt Music for an intimate summer concert series in the historic Slit Barn, with a Willibald bar pouring drinks (partial proceeds back to rare). Seating is first-come, first-served and shows are 19+.
Downtown Kitchener Ribfest & Craft Beer Show | July 17–19
Now in its 23rd year, the Downtown Kitchener Ribfest & Craft Beer Show fires up Victoria Park with mouth-watering barbecued ribs and chicken, an outstanding lineup of Ontario craft beer, ciders, and cocktails, live entertainment, and a Kids Fun Zone. A top 100 Ontario festival featuring exclusively local and Ontario-based vendors, it’s a celebration of community and saucy summer flavour. Bring the family, bring your appetite, and savour the season.
Sun Life Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival | July 17–19
Three days, one stage, zero cover. The Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival returns for its 34th year with a free weekend spanning vocalists, urban jazz, funk, R&B, big band, and traditional jazz. Catch Four80East closing out Friday, Alexis Baro Y Latin Big Band lighting up Saturday night, and The Tonewheels with Matt Weidinger sending Sunday home in style. Family activities, youth ensembles, and a packed lineup of local and touring acts round out one of the region’s most beloved summer traditions.
Cambridge Scottish Festival | July 18
Kilts on, caber up. The Cambridge Scottish Festival hits its 50th anniversary in style. Spend the day at Churchill Park taking in pipe bands, highland dancing, heavy events, clan displays, highland cattle, and family-friendly fun, with Celtic favourites The Mudmen headlining the live music.
AfroVibes Festival | July 18
AfroVibes is back with live DJs and high-energy sets across Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, and Hip-Hop, a global vendor marketplace celebrating African, Caribbean, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Asian creatives, and a Kids & Family Zone packed with activities. Come hungry, come curious, come ready to dance. AfroVibes is where culture, community, and connection come alive.
Preston Food Crawl | July 24
Put on your stretchy pants. The Preston Food Crawl returns with 20 tasting tickets for $20, good for everything from one-ticket nibbles to three-ticket treats at spots all across Preston Towne Centre. Graze your way through gourmet bites and comfort food classics, soak up the live music, and don’t forget the pup with a participating pet food business serving up tastings for your four-legged crew too.
Wayback Festival | July 24 and 25
Turn up the nostalgia and crank the classics at the City of Kitchener’s Wayback Festival. Friday features a Tribute to Classic Rock with performances by Born in the Eighties, the Early Elton Tribute Band, and the Only Journey Tribute Band. On Saturday, it’s Your Favourites, Live with performances from Trooper and Loverboy!
Night Rave Swim at Big Splash | July 25
Drop the beat, then drop into the wave pool. Big Splash transforms into an all-ages EDM party after dark, with DJs spinning high-energy sets while you ride the slides, float the wave pool, and dance under the lights.
The Little KW Flamenco Fest | July 26
Waterloo Town Square turns into a Spanish fair with atmosphere, food, drink and music at the Little KW Flamenco Fest on July 26. Performers include Fernando Gallego, David Sinclair, Joaquin Nuñez Hidalgo, and Makeda Benítez with resident performers Juneyt, Claudia, and Julian.
2026 Ontario Summer Games | July 30–August 2
The biggest sporting event of the summer is right in our backyard. Waterloo Region hosts the 2026 Ontario Summer Games over four days, with thousands of young athletes competing across 25+ sports, from archery, athletics, and beach volleyball to box lacrosse, sailing, martial arts, and everything in between. Venues span Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, so wherever you are, there’s a podium moment within reach. Cheer on the next generation and catch tomorrow’s stars today.
